Bio

I’m a professional writer and editor specializing in health, psychology, parenting and women’s issues. I enjoy learning about better ways of living–whether through people’s everyday discoveries or rigorous scientific research—and sharing them with precision and style.

I’ve written more than 100 articles on topics ranging from when to take your child to the ER to happiness myths to whether I should change my name. My work has appeared in national publications such as Bride’s, Family Circle, Parents, Fit Pregnancy, Natural Health, Shape, VIV, Weight Watchers magazine and Writer’s Digest. I’m currently the health director for VIV, the first all-digital lifestyle magazine for women.

Before freelancing full-time in late 2006, I was the health editor at Shape and Fit Pregnancy for several years in Los Angeles. I’ve also created content for leading career and business web sites, including CareerPath.com and Business.com. I won a gold medal in feature writing from the American Society of Business Press Editors and was part of the Fit Pregnancy team that won Best Overall Consumer Magazine from the Western Publishing Association.

I’m a cum laude communications graduate of Trinity University in San Antonio. I live in Overland Park, Kansas, with my husband and two children.
